Community Education

Rhino Revolution UK Ltd. believes that a key way to stop poaching in the marginalised areas surrounding the Greater Kruger Area is by working alongside the local communities to address education needs and assist in sustainable poverty alleviation.

So many of the young people living on Kruger’s doorstep have never had the opportunity to visit a park or game reserve, see wild animals, or understand the livelihood opportunities from tourism.  Rhino Revolution UK therefore supports and sponsors a number of initiatives in the area.

This includes classroom programs, weekly field trips to game reserves, vegetable gardens, tree planting, recycling, WESSA Eco school projects and accreditation – as well as anti-poaching days.

Education does not stop within Africa or indeed with our children.  RR-UK visits all kinds of organisations to spread the word about participating in the solutions required to save our most precious species from extinction.

Medina Publishing has assisted RR-UK with the publication of their own children’s book “Ubuntu – Summer of the Rhino”.  Our Trustee, Imelda Bell, has also created 3 books to help raise awareness to children of varying ages.  We have vet students with RR-UK who are giving presentations to secondary schools.
